Issue with Updating Leads in La Growth Machine Using LinkedIn URL

·
·

I'm having an issue when I try to update a lead in La Growth Machine from Clay. It consistently creates a duplicate lead in La Growth Machine rather than updating the existing lead. When I use email address as the field Clay looks for, it's fine, but when I used LinkedIn URL it creates a new lead. Any ideas what is going wrong here? I need to do it against LinkedIn URLs because sometimes La Growth Machine doesn't have the email address.

Can you check if the linkedin URL in LGM is exactly the same as in Clay? Sometimes there is / at the end of URLs in clay OR LGM which makes it unique This is unique: http://www.linkedin.com/test/ http://www.linkedin.com/test This is same: http://www.linkedin.com/test/ http://www.linkedin.com/test/

Hey Travers, thanks for reaching out! 😊 Muhammad is absolutely right. You can also use a search lead from LGM to check if the lead already exists beforehand. Additionally, you can try using different variations to ensure you’re covering all possibilities. Let me know if you need any further assistance! 😊

The interesting thing is if I do the search lead function and get the lead ID inside of LGM I can’t use that lead ID to update the lead which seems strange - I’ll give this a try in another format though. Thanks for your help!

I understand if this sounds a bit confusing! What I meant is that there aren’t any users linked to the exact email you’re searching for. However, I did find other users connected to the same company name, so it’s possible that a different email was used. If this solution doesn’t work or seems off, feel free to let me know, and we’ll figure it out together! 😊

But what if I'm not searching for the email, but rather the LinkedIn URL? I don't want to search by email, I want to search by LinkedIn URL. I've checked and the URLs are identical between Clay and LGM and its still happening. I'm literally downloading a list from LGM, putting it into Clay, so the fields are all exactly as they are in LGM - then attempting to update those leads from clay, and it doesn't match the LinkedIn URL and just creates a new lead.

Got it Travers, thanks for the additional context. Do you mind sharing a table where this is happening so we can see how you are updating the leads in LGM?

you can see in the last few columns i'm testing this -- look at Jarett - it created rather than updated

Hey Travers, thanks for sharing this. It looks like we've got a bug on our hands - I've escalated this over to our engineering team and we'll let you know as soon as we know more!

Hey Travers, I just took a closer look at this with our team and this issue is related to a recent update La Growth Machine made. By default, they now only update fields that are empty. if you want to update fields that aren't empty, toggle this setting in your account: https://downloads.intercomcdn.com/i/o/1170493226/c3fbad524c1e41a4654f5b37/image.png?expires=1725578100&signature=14b14ca9071dfb12a46253db034594fccf76c9c12d89d8edc54e8df5db8ba3de&req=dSEgFs13noNdX%2FMW1HO4zcrNFgUR3ixJn6HVzF4hD6%2Bf2Bxf0ZyG7%2BxQWs2R%0Av3r9%0A Please try updating this setting in your LGM account and re-run the enrichment. Let me know if this fixes your issue!

Hey Travers, We realized that the error was actually occurring due to a discrepancy on our end with Salesnav and LinkedIn urls. While you identified the leads with a salesnav URL, we were looking for it with the public LinkedIn url in the create or update lead action. We just fixed this action to search for both LinkedIn and Salesnav urls and tested a few rows which are now showing "lead updated" instead of "created." This issue should be resolved now - please run the rest of your column and let us know if you have any other issues. Appreciate your patience as we got to the bottom of this and thank you for flagging this error for us!

It's still not working. It looks like LGM makes their own version of LinkedIn URLs btw. But I'm using the URL that LGM created to search for it an update it, so this shouldn't be a problem. See sell for Ravindra Nagaraju - a lead was created rather than updated.

Hey Travers, When we send the URL back to LGM, the “create or update lead” enrichment still uses a public LinkedIn URL, which is why the lead was created instead of updated. I’m checking with our engineers and will get back to you.
