Ive disabled 4o in my settings for my openai key and only need 4o mini. I selected 4o mini, yet clay doesnt allow me to use 4o mini unless i enable 4o

Clay requires your OpenAI API key to have access to the full GPT-4o model, not just GPT-4o Mini. If your OpenAI project does not have access to GPT-4o, you will see an error and cannot use GPT-4o Mini in Clay. To resolve this, check your OpenAI API usage tier and ensure your key supports the required models and rate limits. Upgrading your OpenAI API tier may be necessary for full access. [1]

Hey,
This is expected behavior based on how OpenAI scopes model access on their side.
Even if you only want to use GPT-4o mini, OpenAI still requires GPT-4o to be enabled on the API key. The mini model is tied to the same model family and entitlement. If 4o is disabled at the account level, OpenAI blocks access to 4o mini as well.
So what’s happening in Clay is not a Clay restriction. Clay is just reflecting what OpenAI allows for that key.
What you should do:
Re-enable GPT-4o in your OpenAI account settings.
Select GPT-4o mini in Clay.
You’ll still only be charged for 4o mini usage, not full 4o, as long as that’s the model selected.
Disabling 4o entirely will prevent both models from working.
