Troubleshooting Claygent for Recent News and Data Accuracy

·
·

Hey team, I’m having a lot of trouble using Claygent to find recent news articles, press mentions, achievements, etc. I’ve tried adding to my prompt “only return results/data from after January 1 2025” Or “Only return results from the past 6 months”. More often than not, it ignores my recency instructions, oftentimes returning data/articles/etc as far back as 2012-2013. Has anyone found any ways to ensure actual recent data when using claygent? I’ve tried several different models - Argon, helium, 4o, Gemini, etc. all seem to have this issue. Any ideas?

To ensure Claygent returns only recent news articles, you can use the Google News integration in Clay, which allows you to filter results by date. Here's how: 1. Use the "Find News Results with Google News" action. 2. Enter your search query in the "Query" field. 3. In the "Date Filter" option, select "Past 6 months" or specify a custom range. This should help you get more recent results. If you're still experiencing issues with Claygent ignoring your recency instructions, you may need to adjust your prompts or try different search strategies. If the problem persists, consider requesting human assistance for more specific guidance.

The Google suggestion is good, and I have tried this, but oftentimes I am looking for deeper insights and only articles/mentions/posts that positively portray the company/person. which would usually best be found with an LLM like perplexity. Is there any way to achieve recency with Claygent?

I've also noticed that Claygent will frequently hallucinate dates - ex. telling me a page from 2012 is from January 15 2025 - is there any way to prevent?

Hi Owen C. - here you go: https://app.clay.com/workspaces/590277/workbooks/wb_0svwz70wSARsNR8YtgX/tables/t_0sw2cfi8uXtggcSPMXZ/views/gv_0sw2cfjGXgfPxuMPwT4 See column "API Key - Person Research" on Find People table. Examples of ignoring strict date limitations: Row 4,5,8, & 15. This is currently using Claygent>4.1 mini but I had even worse results with Claygent Argon

Got it. The model you’re using—Claygent 4.1 mini—is one of the lower-cost options, so it’s expected that results might not be as accurate. If you’ve seen even worse results with Argon, it could be due to the way the prompt is written, not just the model itself. I took your original prompt and tested it in Claude with a bit more context, and it gave me a refined version. Feel free to try that updated prompt—it might help improve consistency across the rows you’re seeing issues with. Let me know how it goes!
