Using Zapier to Update Leads in Clay Tables Based on Third-Party Events

Β·
Β·

i want to use zapier to update a lead/contact in a clay table based on an event trigger in a 3rd party app. . This lead/contact could be inside one of many clay tables . what is the best way to ensure that zapier finds the right lead inside the right table? (is it possible to set up a single zap that searches across multiple clay tables?)

Based on the available information, while you can use Zapier to send data to Clay tables, there isn't a direct way to search across multiple Clay tables through a single Zap. Here's what you can do: 1. To send data to a specific Clay table: β€’ Set up a Clay action in your Zap β€’ Connect your Clay account using your API key (found in Settings > Account > API key) β€’ Configure the action settings to specify the exact workspace and table where you want to send the data 2. For receiving data from Clay to Zapier: β€’ You can set up webhook triggers in Zapier β€’ Use HTTP API enrichment in your Clay table to send data to ZapierTo manage updates across multiple tables, you would need to either: ** Set up separate Zaps for each table ** Or use unique identifiers in your tables and implement a system to track which table contains which leadsFor your specific use case, you may want to reach out to a human agent who can provide more detailed guidance on the best approach for your workflow. Hey Miguel, thanks for reaching out. Would love to get the full scope of your workflow here, a few questions come to mind: 1. What specific data point are you hoping to update? 2. How many different tables would need to be searched through? 3. Is this the last step of your workflow in Zapier or are there other pieces that happen afterward that are conditional on this data point being updated?

    hi owen:

    1. 1.

it would be a text cell in a single row

    2. 2.

this could range from 2-30 clay tables

    3. 3.

this is the last step in zapier.

Got it, what are these 2-30 Clay tables? are they all the same structure or data in general (i.e. company data) and I'm curious, would creating a master table where you'd be able to track all of these updates in one spot make this easier?

not all the same structure necessairly. they are similar and will share many common columns together

a master table would have to many columns i think

it would exceed the column limit which is why i have to break it down

Could you share the URL to a few of these tables just so I can gain a better picture into what this would look like in practice? I.e. which data point would you want to update? Long story short, it may be possible but given 30 tables it would be a hell of a workflow to setup in Zapier (requiring some sort of search table 1, if data point exists update x, else continue. Then search table 2, if data point exists update x, else continue to table 3 and so on and so forth using Zapier Paths)
