How to Maintain AI Prompt Formatting When Using Google Docs

Hey! I am working on a fairly long AI prompt that I would ideally like to work on in google docs where it is a bit easier to get an overview of the entire prompt but when copying and pasting back and forth, the column mapping is lost. Any ideas on how to solve this?
