Hi, I am having trouble understanding something about signals, and the docs didn't help. What's the base line of signals? The data I have in my CRM or the data the person has when I add them to Signals? Especially when discussing job changes. Also, with job changes, what happens if someone ads a current job on top of the one they have right now? will Signals make sure to check that the current job has ended on their profile?
For job change Signals, the baseline depends on how you set it up: If you provide both the "Person LinkedIn URL" and "Company LinkedIn URL" columns, Clay performs a historical check to see if the person still works at the specified company. This creates a baseline from your CRM/existing data. If you only provide the "Person LinkedIn URL" column, Clay will track future job changes from the moment you create the Signal, using the person's current data as the baseline. When setting up job change monitoring, you can enable the "Update outdated rows" option, which adds a new row if the contact's current company no longer matches your records. Clay doesn't specifically mention handling multiple current jobs, but it focuses on detecting when contacts switch roles or companies.
what happens if the domain of the company changes? Will this alone create a signal?
A change in company domain alone won't trigger a job change Signal. Job change Signals specifically track when contacts switch roles or companies, not domain changes. When you set up job change monitoring, Clay checks if a person still works at the specified company (if you provided both Person and Company LinkedIn URLs) or tracks future job changes from when you create the Signal (if you only provided Person LinkedIn URL). The Signal is triggered when a contact moves to a new company or changes their role, not when technical details like a domain name change.
