Can We Assume Clay Lacks Data for 10 Employees in Company?
If a company has 100 employees and Clay only came up with 90, can I assume Clay doesnt have data for the other 10

And if that's the case, what happens if I manually input 10 missing profiles (Linkedin URLs) and hit enrich profiles?
Hey team, just did a test run, built a table with random few companies and used Clay to find contacts in them. Then I went on Linkedin to manually grab a profile that wasn't showing in Clay and enriched it, Clay came back with full info on everything. So why didn't this person show up in the initial find people search? Im really curious. Hey there! The reason is that each data source collects information differently. When you use "Find People," we're using a certain data provider. But when you manually enrich a LinkedIn URL, we're tapping into a different set of providers. For the most part, we don't use your cookie/login data. This means we might miss some information here and there, especially if there are privacy restrictions in place for certain profiles. While Clay gives you access to a lot of data, we're not a data provider. Our philosophy is that if the data is online, you can find it and orchestrate it inside of Clay - you just need to get creative. Instead of getting blocked in the nitty-gritty of one missing profile, we prefer doing things at scale without any worries. We're continuously working on these tools to improve coverage though! Let me know if you'd like to find ways to find those 10 extra people inside of Clay instead 🌟
Thanks Bo! Understood and that makes sense. So Clay has layer one databases on the backend and when enriching, it’s talking to both layer one and layer two partners at once. In that case, what would you recommend to build the most comprehensive search? Ex. Given a list of 1,000 accounts, looking to find EVERYONE containing specific titles in these accounts (I thought about Apify+Sales Nav scarping. It works great but it’s not sustainable due to LinkedIn limitations and potential accounts bans)
And I agree that there’s no need to be locked in on one missing profiles, but a refined process/recommendation to cover as much as possible would be greal! Thanks in advance!
Great question, I personally like to do this after doing a find people search: 1. First, run a lookup to your people table to spot the missing values 2. Click "add enrichment" (top right) 3. Pick Claygent > Select GPT 4o 4. Create a metapromptlike: "Find me the {roles} at {company} that are currently working there - I need their linkedin.com/in URL, full name and job title. Get as many as possible. Leave empty if none found", generate prompt, tweak it if you see missing parts 5. Choose JSON output and generate from prompt 6. Add a run condition so it only runs when the lookup came up empty 7. Use "write to other table" to send the new finds to your people table (send: full name, job title, linkedin.com/in URL, and company domain) 8. Then you can grab their emails!
