Hi support. I used email waterfall and got 96 validated emails (done by Zerobounce). I tried verifying the same list through another platform (EmailOversight) and their report says that only 29 are valid. Can you help explain the discrepancy?
The main reason for this discrepancy likely stems from how Clay and Zerobounce handle catch-all emails by default. In Clay's email validation process using Zerobounce, catch-all emails are automatically returned as valid. While catch-all emails are often real and functional, there's some uncertainty about whether they belong to the specific individual or if they're aliases. Different email validation services may handle catch-all emails differently, which could explain the variation in results between Zerobounce and EmailOversight. For a more conservative validation approach, you can enable the "only mark safe to send" option in Clay's Zerobounce settings. This will exclude catch-all emails from your valid email list and only return emails that are explicitly classified as "valid".
