Troubleshooting GPT API Key Issues and Usage Tier Questions

Hey, signed up and paid for GPT API to incorporate GPT 4o mini and cut costs. Was trying to paste the Project API Key but kept getting the error notice from Clay. What is the specific usage tier I need to reach? Is it a matter of paying $50 and waiting 7 days?

Hey Will, the Clay team will jump in here with all the details, but I believe you have to be Tier 3 or 4 for GPT4o mini, due to the rate limits of OpenAI. Otherwise, performance would be terrible and it would be a bad user experience. https://platform.openai.com/docs/guides/rate-limits/tier-4-rate-limits The OpenAI credits don’t go to waste, I just put them in early and can now just use them up.

Hello Will! You will not be able to use the tier 1 API key for Claygent, but you should be able to use it for ChatGPT.
