Understanding Clay's Email Validation and Greylisting Responses

Hello! I am brand new to Clay and for my first question just want to double check the following: 1. does Clay return catchall/ greylisted emails as "valid". 2. Is there a way to get it to only return emails with a zerbounce status of "valid"?

Yes, by default Clay returns catch-all emails as "valid" with "catch-all" as a sub-status. [1]
And yes! You can change this behavior using the "Only Safe To Send" toggle. When enabled, only emails classified as "valid" by ZeroBounce will be returned, excluding catch-all emails.
This setting is available in both the standalone ZeroBounce validation action and in email waterfalls - just look for the "Only mark 'Safe to Send' emails as valid" option. [2]

Actually, yes! Does using this toggle impact credit usage?

No, using the "Only Safe To Send" toggle doesn't change credit usage. You're still charged 1 credit per enriched cell when using the Clay-managed ZeroBounce account, regardless of whether the toggle is on or off. [1] [2]
The toggle only affects which emails are returned as "valid" - it doesn't impact the actual validation process or credit consumption.
