how do i check the email status (not lead status) to see if a lead has clicked on the link in my emails in smartlead.ai in a clay table?

Recently Clay has provided a Beta feature for sending directly emails from Clay. You can opt in for beta going through settings and check the campaign analytics

Regardless, I'm curious what are you hoping to use this data for within Clay? May be able to find a workaround here if you're trying to trigger actions based on whether someone clicked on or not.
