Hey, when I am building a lookalike list with Ocean, I can specify that the company is in a very different list of industries than when building a company search in Clay. Is there a way of finding all companies in Clay, that are within an Ocean.io industry? Specifically I am trying to build a view of all ed tech companies in a certain market
You can find ed tech companies in Clay using the Find Companies source with these approaches: 1. Select relevant industries from the dropdown menu (like "Education" or "Technology") 2. Use the "Include description keywords" feature with terms like "ed tech, " "educational technology, " or specific ed tech categories 3. Combine industry filters with keywords for more precise targeting 4. Further refine by location, company size, or other criteria To start, click "+ Add" at the bottom of your workbook and search for "Find Companies."
I will try that, but there is no way to reference Ocean industry categorisations, or for that matter any other external taxonomies, just Clays?
You can access Ocean.io's industry categorizations when using the "Find Lookalike Companies with Ocean.io" action, where you can filter by industry sectors as one of the input options. For custom industry categorizations beyond what's available in Clay's "Find Companies" source, you can use Claygent to create and apply your own custom industry categories to your data. The two approaches serve different purposes - Ocean.io for finding lookalikes with their taxonomy, and Claygent for applying custom classifications to existing data.
