Issue with HubSpot Starters Free Credits on Trial Account

I signed up for the HubSpot Starters. I received this email for my free credits, but when I click, I do not get them. Does this only work for new accounts? Im on a free/trial account still.

To receive free credits from a referral or promotional link, you must use the link during sign-up and then subscribe to a paid plan. Credits are not awarded if you remain on a free or trial account. If you used the link correctly but did not receive credits after upgrading, you can request human assistance by clicking "Talk to a person" in this chat for further help.

So then this is not really 1k free credits. You get 1k free when you sign up. So why would I do this partnership?

The main benefit of the HubSpot Starters partnership is that, after upgrading to a paid plan, you receive 1, 000 free credits in addition to the features of the Starter plan, such as 2, 000 credits, unlimited users, and expanded search capabilities. The free trial already includes 1, 000 credits, but the partnership offer provides extra value once you become a paying user, not during the trial period.
