Hi Clay team, in this table we started with around 9,500 credits, enriched 2,022 LinkedIn profiles (1 credit each), and found the validated emails for 645 of them (2 credits each, 1,290). All together it looks like we should have around 6,200 credits, but we only have 4,840 credits. Can someone please take a look and see if everything is in order? Could be that I'm missing something, but I just want to make sure.
Hey Hagai, thanks for reaching out! Taking a look
Looks like everything ran properly. I saw that the email waterfall was hidden so I opened them up to see what was going on. There was also a validation provider checking the emails for you so the provider charges another credit to validate, and as long as the email has not been previously validated somewhere else in the waterfall. It also appears that some emails were actually invalid so the next email provider attempted to find a new email and then validate that next one
So in total, it did use up that estimated amount of credits. I added some back though, we know it's not evident unless you reveal all columns or if there was a details breakdown. That last part is something the team has brought up and we'll work on options to make this clearer but for now, you can click on the enrichment headers you have -> Run Info to show you how many credits each provider used so far.
Hi Arturo, thank you for the explanation and the credits. Just so I know what to expect in the future, can you explain how much exactly does it cost to enrich emails via the waterfall? I understood it as 2 credits per each validated emails, but now I see there might be more costs. Is there a way to know how much it will cost in advance?
Great question! Each provider charges for their enrichments/using them in Clay and reflects the cost as credits, you can see how much each one charges per result when you add them (green credit icon next to them). Some will even refund the credits if they don't find data (some still charge even if they don't find anything). That's the case with the waterfall, if a provider finds an email then they charge Clay for that, which trickles down.If you use your own API key we won't charge you credits for that enrichment provider.
We unfortunately do not have control over what each provider returns, so if multiple providers find the same email over and over, those costs get transferred over to us. However, the team is discussing strategies around this to help improve it
