Updating Specific Column in Clay Table Using CSV Import

·
·

Hi team, I have an existing table with data. I am trying to import a csv in order to only update a specific column in my Clay table—based on a matching key. For example, the csv I'd like to import has the Email column and a "New Data" column and Id like to update the "New Data" field of every existing row using the file i'm important (and key-ing on Email). Is there a way to do this in Clay via import or some other feature? Clay's AI support agent tell me this is possible but I tried this and I think it's hallucinating.

You can update a specific column in your existing Clay table by importing a CSV file. Here's how: 1. Open your existing table. 2. Click on "Actions" and select "Import". 3. Choose "Import from CSV" and upload your file. 4. Select "Add to current table". 5. In the column mapping step, match your CSV's Email column to the existing Email column in your Clay table. 6. For the "New Data" column, map it to the corresponding column in your Clay table that you want to update. 7. Click "Add to table" to complete the import. This process will update the specified column for matching Email entries. If you need more assistance, you can request human help by clicking on "Talk to a person" in the chat.

If you want to update existing rows in Clay using a CSV, the way to do it is by using a lookup to another table. Here’s how: 1. Upload your CSV as a new table. 2. In your original table, create a lookup column that pulls data from the new table — matching on the Email field. That will let you bring in the “New Data” values where the emails match.
