Hi, one of my tables got "soft locked". I'm getting the error: Error: Basic group doesn't have any fields. It happened when I accidentally clicked group column. Here's the link: https://app.clay.com/workspaces/498871/workbooks/wb_hsRPiEZVneu2/graphs/t_ReuJEwj4bkRY/views/gv_W4xiSGRuTFEd Here's a screenshot
The "Error: Basic group doesn't have any fields" issue you're experiencing is likely related to the Group Columns feature in Clay. Group Columns allow users to organize their columns more efficiently by grouping and collapsing them. To resolve this: 1. Try ungrouping the columns: • Right-click on the group column • Look for an option to ungroup or remove the group 2. If that doesn't work, try refreshing the page or reopening the table. 3. If the issue persists, you may need to recreate the column structure. If these steps don't resolve the problem, please request human assistance by clicking on "Talk to a person" for further support.
I need a human. The issue is a bit weird.
Hey Seth, thanks for sharing this. This is indeed a bit weird! I've asked our engineers to help us take a deeper look into it. Meanwhile, I've not been able to replicate the issue in my test account. You mentioned accidentally clicking to group columns. Do you recall any more detail around how that might have happened. Or what you were trying to do intentionally, when things went haywire? I'll keep you update on what I learn internally. More to come!
Hi Mark, yeah it's a bit weird never encountered this before. Yeah, I was trying to hide a single column and somehow I was able to group it. Not sure how that happened really cause that shouldnt have been possible
Yeah, I could see this happening if multiple columns were selected (unintentionally / unbeknownst to you), but I've had to put effort into making it happen that way. I wonder if there was some UI lag or something like that. I'll keep an eye out!
Hi Seth, thanks for your message - I followed up on the issue with our engineering team. We'll be in touch as soon as we have news. Thanks for your patience!
Hey — unfortunately, there’s no way to duplicate the table from the backend. The best option would be to restart the table entirely so you can get unblocked quickly. I’m happy to add the credits to support that.
Hi Bo, unfortunately, I used an external API for this, but credits would definitely be appreciated. Thanks!
Hey, Got it—I’ve added some credits so you can keep things moving. Sorry for the delay!
I’ve heard back from our engineering team and can confirm that we’re adding this issue to our backlog. For greater context, our product team prioritizes bugs based on the severity of the issue and how widespread of an experience it is with customers. To set expectations, items like this may not be addressed for some time. The timeline is based on the team's current existing set of work and upcoming feature releases, all subject to change. So what happens now? Now that your issue has been logged, I will tentatively mark this as closed. Please note that I will reach out to you as soon as I receive any new information about this bug. If you don’t hear from me, then the engineering team is still working on it. As soon as there's an update, this conversation will automatically re-open on my end and I will follow up with you. Do you have any further questions before I step away from this conversation until I have an update for you?
Good news! Happy to report that we heard back from the team and this issue should be fixed. Try a quick refresh (Cmd/Ctrl + Shift + R) and let us know if the problem has been resolved on your end, or if you still have trouble. Thank you for your patience as we worked on it.
