Happy Holidays everyone 😃 I've faced a problem with the slack integration: I've connected my slack workspace to Clay, and want clay to send notifications to a slack channel but can't find the needed channel in the dropdown (seems like there're all the channels except for the one I need in the dropdown). Can that be because the channel was recently created? I tried refreshing fields in the enrichment column, it didn't help. Also tried manually adding the channel ID and got 0 result. or maybe it's because my channel is private? the error message is in the screenshot
Hey,
Yes, this is expected behavior and it’s almost certainly because the channel is private.
Slack integrations can only access public channels by default. Private channels will not appear in the dropdown unless the Clay Slack app has been explicitly invited to that channel. That’s why you’re not seeing it in the list, why manually pasting the channel ID returns no result, and why refreshing the fields doesn’t change anything.
To fix this, go into the private Slack channel and invite the Clay Slack app or bot to the channel (for example using /invite @Clay). After that, go back to Clay and refresh the Slack integration or the enrichment column. The channel should then appear and messages should send correctly.
If the channel was created very recently, Slack can sometimes take a short time to sync, but without inviting the app, private channels will never show up regardless.
Let me know if you have more questions.
Hey Bo, I've invited Clay app to my channel and it started working 🤩 Thank you for help!
