Arturo O. Hi, let's say I want to pull a list from 'Find People on LinkedIn' on a weekly basis. Same search parameters every time but I only want the new people (so not to burn credits and have overlaps). Is this possible to automate a weekly pull of the data?
Hey hey! Can you drop the URL for your table here? (if applicable) 🫶 Don't worry, only admins will be able to open your table 😉
Hey KC F., thanks for reaching out! We don't currently have a way to automate this but it has been mentioned a few times. To clarify, there are ways to do something similar but only if you're referencing a list of companies, if you add a new one to your company list it could automate the people search. Our Getting Started video shows a bit of that process-https://www.clay.com/learn/getting-started-with-clay
But if your goal is to find people regardless of company, we don't have that automation option just yet. You can keep on running Find People searches and importing to the same table, which will check for duplicates and skip them, importing new leads only. Hopefully, there will be some updates addressing this soon!
Got it, Ian M.! Clay currently resembles a spreadsheet like Excel, which doesn't have a way to prevent duplicate data from being added across spreadsheets but the capability to look it up across them. Of course, this may be added in at some point where it could do a workspace-wide lookup+dedupe(?). It's probably resource intensive and why it's not been prioritized but I'll submit a request for this.
hi, why are there so few ppl found using the linkedin people finder?
I put in new york, saas and ceo and only got 138 results
how do I get the whole database?
Or at least more ppl?
Hey! Happy to run some tests, do you have a link to the company table? Since our tools use data aggregators for those lists and don’t have access to your active session or cookies, it could miss a few profiles due to them being restricted by linkedin or the user
If you add more keywords to the search that would include variations of the titles you need, that will likely yield more results. Example: CEO, chief executive officer, owner, parter…
I don't have a link to a table, I'm just trying to run a demo for folks tonight on how to find CEO's that are in the SAAS industry from linkedin
i don't see linkedin as a source anymore
Instead, I'm going to New Table >> Find People from LinkedIn but when I run that I only get a few results
Hmm, not sure why that video is still available. That has been deprecated and replaced with the current options as improvements and efficiency. The getting started video on clay.com/learn is a more recent video that would be relevant
When you go there and click find leads from linkedin, that's the same video...
Adding more title variations should help for the most part
Sorry for the confusion, I’ll ask the team to remove that one. There’s another one called getting started
I don't see industry available
alot of the filters are gone
am i in the right place?
Yep, some filters are specific to the type of search due to how the data aggregators work. Industry and size are only currently available when using Find Companies… we do have a ticket in backlog to consider these for Find People too, hopefully soon
i'm confused, in the video the filters for people search are already there; just want to make sure i'm not looking in the wrong spot. Is there another place to pull people data from linkedin?
Not exactly, that video im referring to starts with a Company search then after that it runs a people search- around the 4 minute mark
You can also import from Sales Nav but that’s a scraper tool which you provide a Sales Navigator search URL. That provider also doesn’t have access to your account so it can’t read saved searches, they charge a credit per row they scrape
I also ran a company search (New York companies that are in SaaS and private); it only gives 8 companies
Why so few? There are hundreds of thousands....
In the market services aread
Here's a better search; its company search for CEO in New York that have the word saas in experience. There are only 299 that show up
It depends if the companies do add that data to their profiles or not. Our tool will find matches for those that include your specific parameters. It's not a 'fuzzy match' like it works on LI, at least not yet
After you import your companies, you can then run the Find People search to find CEOs or related titles at those companies.
I'll re-run that last search you have and record the workflow logic and try to explain a bit as I go.
Here we go, hope it explains it a bit more: https://www.loom.com/share/d0c37061e4a8492f9cd43b85ae0cc759
And an example of the initial search by adding more keywords/variations of "saas"
Thanks, super helpful. Still very small sample size compared to when I look in sales navigator for the same data. I was able to get more data when going directly to 'description' on the top
quick question, is there a easy way to go back to the original company column from the new people table? Or do I need to navigate back to home first?
Sorry for the delay! Yep, that could be a thing, some profiles being missed due to some of those reason but we're continuously adding more providers to increase coverage.
For that second question, do you mean to pull data into the new table or to go back to the company list and add more data there?
