I can't seem to change the source of my find company table? Here is my process. I created a find company table, set the attributes I wanted and imported it into a table. I then decided I wanted to modify it by removing the 10,000+ employee count filter. I go to "edit source table", remove the 10,000 employees, but there are no companies that show up in the preview window, and so the "continue" button is disabled. Seems like I can only modify the company table if I'm adding so that there are new companies that show up in the preview window?
You're right - editing source filters after a table has been run won't retroactively update the results. Clay doesn't reprocess previously generated data automatically. [1]
Even though the source preview shows your new filters (removing the 10,000+ employee filter), the table won't refresh until you re-run the step. To see the updated results with your broader criteria, you'll need to either delete and re-run the step or duplicate the table with the updated source.
This is why you're not seeing new companies in the preview - the system is designed to only show additions, not re-process existing data with modified filters.
Was that helpful?
yes, but I already ran a signal on that table and I don't want to have to re-run it on the new table? That would waste credits.
Unfortunately, there's no way around this - Clay doesn't reprocess previously generated data when you modify source filters. [1] Your signal enrichment would need to be re-run on any new companies that get added from your broader search criteria.
The system is designed this way because editing source filters after a table has been run won't retroactively update the results. [2] You'd either need to delete and re-run the step or duplicate the table with updated filters, which would require re-running your signal on the new data.
Is that what you were looking for?
I understand this limitation can be frustrating, and I’m here if you need more help with managing your tables and signals. Would you like to share more about what you’re trying to achieve so I can assist further?
Okay, trying to create a new table. I saved my search, hoping it would just mean I didn't have to fill in all the criteria. I created a new workbook and then used my saved search, but now I'm not seeing any results in the preview? Is save search not just saved attributes on a search? Is it the actual table results?
Saved searches only save your filter criteria (industry, headcount, location, etc.) - not the actual results. [1] When you use a saved search in a new workbook, you still need to run it to generate fresh results. The preview should show potential matches based on your saved criteria, but if you're not seeing any results, the filters might be too restrictive or there could be a temporary issue. Try adjusting your criteria slightly or refreshing the preview.
Was that helpful?
No, that is not what is happening.... I'm in a new workbook, I select the saved search, but there are no results (and my criteria is very broad).
Sorry to hear that’s frustrating. I’ll connect you to a human agent who can help you further with this issue.
