Enrichment Queries: Understanding Job Title Match Criteria on Clay

·
·

Hi Clay team - I'm looking to enrich some companies with data on the number of employees with Procurement Role titles. There's a recent change to the 'Find Employee Headcount by Criteria' enrichment that I've noticed where there's now a toggle and option for 'Job Title Exact Keyword Match'. I have 2 questions:

  1. 1.

Before this was an added feature you can toggle, was the previous iteration of this enrichment based on this 'Job Title Exact Keyword Match' being On or Off?

  2. 2.

Noticing that when it's toggled off, there's a lot of flexibility on what it Clay determines is a match, what are the specific details on how Clay categorizes a Job Title to be an Exact vs. Non-Exact match

  1. i.

If not already answered above, how does Clay determine if something is a Non-Exact match compared to something completely unrelated at all?

Here's the table we were using: https://app.clay.com/workspaces/98124/tables/t_kUeUBtsdE63u/views/gv_HvWWYENdfkdC

Hello David! 1. Previous Version of the Enrichment: Previously, this enrichment used an exact match approach. So, whatever was specified in the title “pill” (like “CEO”) had to appear exactly as written but it would also return "CEO of Company" since it had "CEO" in it. For example, only titles matching “CEO” would display—not variants like “Chief Executive Officer.” 2. Exact vs. Non-Exact Match: With the new toggle, turning off “Job Title Exact Keyword Match” broadens the criteria, allowing for more flexible matching. This includes titles related to the keyword but not an exact match, so “CEO” might include similar titles like “Chief Executive Officer.” 3. Non-Exact Matching Details: Clay uses title normalization to group related titles under broader categories when non-exact matching is enabled, pulling in similar roles without deviating into unrelated fields. Let us know if you have more questions about using this feature!

Hi Bo (. - thanks for the info! I had another question that's a bit off topic but related to the project for this table. When running enrichments, how long can we expect the process to take? I'm currently in the process of enriching ~49,000 rows of companies with Growth Rate and Rolecount data fields and want to get a sense on how long it will take. Additionally, I was wondering if there's any adverse effect from running enrichments across multiple tables at once. Thanks!

Hey David! I can't give you an exact time frame on how long enriching 49K rows will take but it shouldn't take longer than 30min to an hour. We generally caution against running high volume enrichments in multiple tables as this can slow your workspace down. If it's smaller auto-update runs then that shouldn't cause an issue but would caution against high volume enrichments (49K and such) as to not deteriorate your load time. Let me know if this helps!
