How to Fill Empty CRM Fields Using Data from Another Column

Β·
Β·

Is there a way to fill empty fields in a column using a second column? My CRM data has some lack for example in the Linkedin profiles. I used the Linkedin profile enrichment to find based on the work email the lacking LinkedIn profiles. Now I want to combine them in the original column (see image). However every equation I generate throws the error "We couldn't save these changes. These changes would cause an infinite loop that would prevent your table from working as expected. Please check your inputs and try again." This error makes only partially sense, as it requires a loop like an auto-update function would do. In a normal script running once, the errors would be false.

To fill empty fields using data from another column, you can use filters and conditional formulas to manage this process effectively: 1. First, use filters to identify the rows with empty cells: β€’ Click "Filter" above the table β€’ Select your target column β€’ Choose "is empty" as the condition 2. Then, you can use conditional formulas to fill the empty cells. This approach helps prevent infinite loops and optimizes credit usage. The key is to use proper conditional logic that only runs when specific conditions are met. To avoid the infinite loop error, make sure your formula only runs on empty cells and doesn't create circular references. You can use conditional formulas to specify exactly when and how the data should be populated. If you continue experiencing issues, you may need to clear your cache and refresh your screen, as sometimes display issues can occur with filtered data.

I will try it, but it is not a straight forward solution

One thing that I observed in that context is that clay deletes my data if I match the results of a new column to an existing column, even if there is no data to write.

This issue can occur due to invalid or conflicting data configurations when writing between columns. There are a few potential causes: 1. Writing to a deleted column 2. Sending data to a table that references another table 3. The value may not be properly formatted for the target column To resolve this, you can try: 1. Double-check that all columns exist and are correctly set up 2. Add your data through the "Other data from this table" section 3. Reconfigure your column mappings to ensure no misconfigurations remain If you continue seeing empty rows after making these changes, try clearing your cache and refreshing your screen, as sometimes this can be due to front-end display issues.
