Fixing Clay Bug: AI Columns Outputting Blank Results

This is by far the most annoying clay bug. GPT columns (and others but usually AI columns) output results mostly to one column, but some columns have a blank result despite the enrichment itself having a value. In that enrichment I can create a new column with the value, and then create a merge column to have one source of truth.

I totally get how frustrating this inconsistent AI column output is! This usually happens when the column was changed multiple times, updated, or if the run was stopped midway.
The quickest fix is to duplicate your current AI column and run it only on the empty rows. Filter for rows where the original column "is empty," then run the AI on those filtered rows. After that, use the merge columns feature to combine both results into one source of truth.
Another potential cause could be the output definition in your prompt configuration - make sure the output fields are correctly defined and mapped in your prompt settings.
Have you tried stopping and restarting the AI column, or did this happen after making changes to the column settings?

Hello Jacob I also have this issue sometimes. What I realized is that there is no need of creating another column and merging. You can select the results of the AI column in which is empty and select the output and the same column where you want to results. It will remap the column and the results that were already showing and the ones that were not showing should appear

So in your example picture. Where it says "Gabby" for example click on the AI response and map it again to "First Name" instead of creating a new column
