Improving CRM Enrichment: Prioritizing Primary Job Roles in Clay

Hi Clay Support, I’m currently using Clay to enrich CRM records and running into an issue when contacts have multiple job roles listed. A good example is Boris Lipkin, who is the Northern California Regional Director at the High Speed Rail Authority. However, he also holds a secondary position as a Board of Trustees Member at San Carlos School District. When I run enrichment, Clay is mistakenly assigning his secondary role (San Carlos School District) as his primary job title and company, which then overwrites his actual main role at the High Speed Rail Authority in our CRM. This causes inaccuracies in our contact data and outreach. Is there a way to ensure that Clay prioritizes or defaults to the contact’s primary or most relevant current role—typically the one with the more senior or full-time position—during enrichment? Then, we enrich social information to find updated details like job titles. 3. If necessary, we use AI search to locate LinkedIn profiles for contacts with missing information. 4. To keep data fresh, we recommend adding a "last enriched by Clay" date to every record in your CRM. 5. You can set up a dynamic list in your CRM based on the Last Enrichment Date, capturing contacts whose information hasn't been refreshed within a specified timeframe. This strategy ensures that we're consistently updating and prioritizing the most current role information for your contacts, helping maintain accurate CRM data.

You're welcome :) You can also try mapping the full "experience" category into the AI prompt to see what kind of output you get— but it might error out depending how long the list of experiences is. Additionally, you can ask the AI to return just the job title directly. Just wanted to give you a quick glimpse of what’s possible with Clay—there’s a lot of flexibility to explore :)
