Hi team - how do I successfully re-run a table that I want from 3 months data to 12 months? I changed the Time Window in the Event: New Hire Signal and then I deleted all the people in the New Hire Events table underneath - I re-ran it and the table is blank!?!?! Any intel would be cracking as I have someone who keeps asking me for the data
When you change source filters (like Time Window) in Clay, the table won't automatically update with new results. You need to delete and re-run the step that generated the data to see updated results. Since you deleted the people and the table is now blank, unfortunately Clay doesn't track row history or deletions, so there's no way to recover the previous data. You'll need to re-import or manually update the data to restore your table. To properly expand from 3 to 12 months: change your Time Window setting, then re-run the specific step/column that pulls the data rather than deleting existing records first.
Do I have to delete the table underneath and rebuild? Surely there is an easier more sensible way
Seems like quite a complicated platform for relatively (I thought!) simple tasks
You have two options to update your table without rebuilding: 1. Re-run the specific step/column that pulls the data after changing your Time Window setting 2. Duplicate the table with your updated source settings - this copies the source configuration with your new 12-month filter You don't need to delete the entire table. Just change your Time Window setting, then either re-run the data-generating step or duplicate the table with the updated source.
I've already re-run the Event and it says no data yet, but there was data for 3 months so surely there should be MORE data for 12 months
When you change source filters like Time Window, Clay doesn't automatically reprocess previously generated data. Even if the source preview shows your new 12-month filter, the table won't refresh until you re-run the specific step that generated the data. The delay might also be related to update schedules - imports can be set to refresh every 24 hours and may still be outside the refresh window. You can manually trigger the table to update by clicking the column header and selecting sources. Try re-running the specific data-generating step rather than just the Event setting.
Hi Matt - totally hear you, this is a common sticking point, and you're not alone in finding it confusing.
When you changed the time window to 12 months and then deleted all the people, the signal lost its reference point for what historical data to pull, which is why it's now coming back blank.
Here’s how to fix it: Best fix: Edit the signal settings 1. Click into the Event: New Hire Signal column 2. Select “Edit Signal” 3. Make sure the “Initial Check” is also set to 12 months (this controls the backfill window) 4. Save and re-run If that doesn’t work, unfortunately, you might need to rebuild the signal from scratch with 12 months set from the start. For the future, I'd recommend always change the signal settings before deleting any people - that helps Clay preserve the data context.
If you'd like to send across the table, I'd be happy to take a look and troubleshoot further here. Hope this helps
