Why am I getting this error?
I am not able to connect my open AI key
This error indicates your OpenAI API key is incorrect or invalid. Get your correct API key from OpenAI API Keys and update it in Clay.
If the key is correct but still failing, check your OpenAI usage tier at OpenAI API Usage Limits. You need tier 2 with 30,000 TPM for content generation or 450,000 TPM for Claygent. Free plans and tier 1 won't work reliably.

Get your correct API key from OpenAI API Keys and ensure you copy the entire key exactly.

To add the key in Clay: go to your profile picture > Settings > Connections > "+Add connection" and select OpenAI. [1]
Is that what you were looking for?
I am at tier 5
Since you're at tier 5, your OpenAI API key should have sufficient rate limits for Clay. The error suggests the API key itself is incorrect or invalid.
Copy your entire API key exactly from OpenAI API Keys and update it in Clay under Settings > Connections. Even a single missing character can cause verification to fail.

I changed and added a new one
still same problem
Since you're at tier 5 and still getting the verification error after adding a new API key, try these steps:
Double-check the key format - Ensure you copied the entire API key exactly from OpenAI API Keys with no extra spaces or missing characters
Verify key permissions - Check that your API key has the correct permissions enabled in your OpenAI dashboard
Re-add the connection - Go to Settings > Connections, remove the existing OpenAI connection completely, then add it fresh with "+ Add connection"
If the issue persists after these steps, ask to speak to a human for further troubleshooting.
