Hi, for row 41, why does it not get the right info? https://app.clay.com/workspaces/271261/tables/t_NnKycXajwhga/views/gv_m5ve9do8inMn If you go to their site, you'll see they have jobs posted. They also didn't raise money.
This discrepancy could be happening for two reasons: 1. If you're looking at job listings, the table might be set up as a static source rather than a dynamic one. To get updated job information, you'll need to change it to a dynamic source and set up scheduled imports to automatically fetch new entries. 2. For company data like fundraising information, there may be limitations from data providers or privacy restrictions that prevent real-time data access. Our providers don't use active sessions or cookies to scrape data live, which can result in differences between what you see when logged in versus what the enrichment shows.
Did that answer your question?

Hey there Luka thanks for reaching out, taking a look at this, this may have happened due to the AI being overwhelmed with the prompt. One solution you can try here is using the Meta prompter, which can be found by selecting the help me button in the AI prompt box. What this will do is help rewrite the prompt in a that the AI can better read in and execute. https://downloads.intercomcdn.com/i/o/w28k1kwz/1376266729/676f1933c723578d31c55612a3e1/image.png?expires=1739322900&signature=6b20796a3cfb4172dc9f7f12da92bac2307a554f14e2a487b81a18d59c606ce5&req=dSMgEMt4m4ZdUPMW1HO4zehty1RpJtAeaYZ2hsWG5zGcsoCVPmUbGSie4YYH%0ARv7A%0A
Thanks LuisArturo. I tried it but it doesn't seem like it's working still. If you look at row 41. Hiring: It says they're not hiring but they are: https://utility.agency/jobs#joblist (this is a very easy one - don't understand how it didn't get this one) Non_USengineers: it says there are no non-US engineers but there are many: https://www.linkedin.com/company/utility-agency/people/?facetGeoRegion=103813819 Funding_Round: I can't find any news that they've had a funding round but it says they did Employee_size_growth: I checked LI and it doesn't seem like they've grown _______ Every single field is incorrect. I don't understand how I'm supposed to automate this when I have zero confidence in the data.
A few other unrelated questions:
how do I turn off the automatic running of AI fields - I selected the companies and automatically it started running the AI portion so I used up many credits
I heard that Clay shouldn't be used on getting emails and AI (I should have my own API keys instead). What should Clay be used on then?
Hi Luka! This happens because the AI model as a small token window and is a cheaper model, meaning it can only process limited information at once. When looking up company data like job posts and LinkedIn profiles, it sometimes can't access all the details due to that data being behind a login - leading to wrong or incomplete answers. For more reliable data, I recommend using Clay's built-in enrichments instead: - "Find Jobs" will accurately track open positions - "Funding" a waterfall that provides verified funding rounds - "Headcount by Country" shows employee locations - "Employee Growth" tracks team size changes https://downloads.intercomcdn.com/i/o/w28k1kwz/1377601153/86870a615712d5a17bd4eaccfc32/CleanShot+2025-02-12+at+_48ZqckNTAy%402x.png?expires=1739385900&signature=d6cba07d2c6fe56f82ba0014a9109e9f8af02f947dcff1ec3e332298515b6f30&req=dSMgEc9%2BnIBaWvMW1HO4zaYSMDF6PkiYdHeJmk6E2NZC6M0HYXGcB1BpqHpH%0A5Wmu%0A https://downloads.intercomcdn.com/i/o/w28k1kwz/1377600915/86c2a251abe21a4c1381c4568005/CleanShot+2025-02-12+at+_38nJy8DoQn%402x.png?expires=1739385900&signature=43ad93fdb87c51e659f7f1cb690f507742b65810adda6af239183293a8cc76df&req=dSMgEc9%2BnYheXPMW1HO4zSC46CSeuT7MlDK1rPCd2IHFsatRKifb8PakhNg%2F%0A%2Blsi%0A For your other questions: To stop automatic AI field running: Go to Auto-Update settings and uncheck it. This prevents unexpected credit usage. While Clay works great with emails and AI, using your own API key lets you save on credit usage better and you can then use your credits for data from enrichment like I discussed where they will be more precise and not open to hallucinations Check out clay.com/claybooks and clay.com/templates to explore more use cases. Let me know if you need help switching to these enrichments!
It really depends on how you approach this. It might costs more but using your API with AI you'll save on credits and from there you'll be able to reference exact data while creating more precise and trustworthy messages. Regarding the key not working, it’s often due to needing Tier 2 access with OpenAI’s API services. To check your current tier, usage, and limits, visit the OpenAI dashboard and look under: • Usage • Limits • Usage Tiers We’ve seen users successfully add a pre-paid tier amount to their OpenAI account and resolve the issue. However, since this is outside our control, we recommend troubleshooting directly with OpenAI’s team. Let me know if you need any further assistance! 😊
Also, why is there so much inconsistency when running Claygent? I run the same row twice and I get two different results. And it seems I get worse results if I run multiple rows at the same time. Have others noticed that?
Hey there, thanks for reaching out! ☺️ Jumping in for Bo. Feel free to run the Claude model and compare it to the other AI results. It's considered better and creating creative lines if that's a use case. Inconsistencies when running Claygent can occur due to the nature of AI processing. Each time AI generates a response, it "re-thinks" the answer from scratch, which can lead to variations in results even when running the same row multiple times. This is because AI processes information independently for each request, without remembering past responses unless specifically programmed to do so . Running multiple rows at the same time should not inherently affect the quality of results. However, optimizing the prompt given to Claygent can improve outcomes. You can use the "Help Me" feature in the Claygent menu to generate a prompt that follows best AI prompting guidelines . Additionally, choosing the right AI model for your task can impact results. Claygent Neon is designed for data extraction and formatting, while GPT-4 and Claude Opus offer enhanced reasoning capabilities. Experimenting with different models may help achieve more consistent results. If there's anything else I can assist you with, please let me know! 😊 Have a great Thursday, Daniel
Hi, I tried using Headcount by Country and I still don't see the right data. For example, row 15 says they have 1 person in the US but there are 3 in India and 2 in the US that fall under Engineering. https://www.linkedin.com/company/anoki-inc/people/
Same with row 14, it says 1 from France when there are 7
Hey Luka! I checked the LinkedIn data and saw the mismatch. The issue was that "engineering" wasn't capturing roles with "data" in the title. I added "data" as a keyword and now it's finding the correct countries Let me know if you need help adjusting any other things
Thanks Bo (.. After I find the companies, how do I only look for contacts where there's a country listed in Column "Largest Non-US Workforce" - https://app.clay.com/workspaces/271261/tables/t_VNh3ggWCj9or/views/gv_e73DKo2XQmDa?
And I looked for all the CTOs, VPs of Engineering & Directors of Engineering for the above table and it returned only 5 results in the US - https://app.clay.com/workspaces/271261/tables/t_mzmcb4NZXCxG/views/gv_yjWBJVYBXtEU. That doesn't look correct. Am I doing something wrong?
And how come I can't write this to Google Sheets? https://app.clay.com/workspaces/271261/tables/t_WSjyC4kPbjrS/views/gv_sHw3onZkTqme
And how can I run Find Employee by Country per each company only once in this table https://app.clay.com/workspaces/271261/tables/t_mzmcb4NZXCxG/views/gv_yjWBJVYBXtEU So I don't want to run it twice if there's more than one contact.
For Row 1, Maplarge, it says there's an engineer in Poland but I can't find one on LI: https://app.clay.com/workspaces/271261/tables/t_b6vyHK6tuv3d/views/gv_8C3bAW7i3DQ6
Hey there, thanks for reaching out! ☺️
Q1: After I find the companies, do I go to Find Contacts?
Q2: People find filter Keep the search a bit broader, and then filter out once you have the people in the table, and example here: Also check out the guide here.
Q3: Google sheet needs to be public. Q4: It's best to conduct the search in your company table instead in the people table to not run an integration multiple times. Q5: The issue of not finding a LinkedIn profile in Clay's people search, despite it being visible on LinkedIn or vice versa, can be attributed to several factors: 1. Data Source Limitations: Clay does not receive data directly from LinkedIn but through third-party data providers that scrape LinkedIn. This can lead to discrepancies in data quality compared to LinkedIn's Sales Navigator, which has proprietary access . 2. Search Parameters: Clay's search algorithms are based on syntactic search, requiring specific keyword variations. If these are not included, some profiles may be missed . 3. Private Profiles: Some profiles may be private or have privacy restrictions, making them inaccessible to Clay's data providers, even if they are visible to a logged-in LinkedIn user . These factors can result in profiles not appearing in Clay's search results, even if they exist on LinkedIn or vice versa. If there's anything else I can assist you with, please let me know! 😊 Have a great Monday, Daniel
Great question. Several ways to do that: * You can use the minimum follower account to weed out fakes:
* You can also cross-reference data with data providers but rather expensive to do.
* You may also want to try running Claygent on the Company people page. See an example here where 11-50 self reported but only 8 people listed. For that, you need to create a column with the LI people page and feed that into the prompt to extract the number. Zenrows would also work for this.
Do you know why all these rows failed to upload to my campaign Daniel K.? https://app.clay.com/workspaces/271261/tables/t_o9EGQeUsMrue/views/gv_RmdwRCPNgigV
Hey Luka, thanks for reaching out. These leads aren't being added to the campaign due to a combination of the following toggles being turned off. After toggling on both of these: ** Allow Duplicate Leads Across Campaigns ** Allow Leads from Community Bounce List The leads appeared to have been added. Would recommend making a decision here on how you'd like to proceed, either by leaving these settings (highlighted in the image below) toggled on or not. :) Let me know if you have any other questions here!
What does this mean "Allow Leads from Community Bounce List"? I thought all the emails that I have are valid as they went through the Waterfall method and should not bounce.
Hey Luka, this toggle is controlled by Smartlead, not Clay. This means it's separate from the verification process in Clay, even if you used a waterfall to find and validate these emails. It's entirely up to you! You might find helpful details in Smartlead’s documentation or FAQs if you’d like more information to make the best choice. Let me know how we can help! :)
Thanks Owen C.. This is the response from Smartlead: Allow Leads from Community Bounce List in Clay means that the lead has been flagged by our community bounce feature. This flag indicates that Smartlead identified previous bounce issues for that email address. In other words, these emails have bounced in past campaigns and are likely to be non-valid, risking lower deliverability. We recommend keeping this feature enabled to protect your sender reputation. I'm a bit confused - why pay all these credits for emails I cannot use?
Also, I turned that off and they're still not uploading into Smartlead. For example, moki@simplepart.com is not in Smartlead so it's not a duplicate. Why didn't it add it to SL?
Same w this table: https://app.clay.com/workspaces/271261/tables/t_rFamPBNwwFd8/views/gv_CeUdt9VyEQCb None of these that failed were duplicates.
Hi Luka, I went ahead and updated the settings to allow leads from the community bounce list. We found that this feature was incorrectly blocking some valid contacts - it's a known issue affecting other users too. See here In the meantime, I also checked your Work Email waterfall and they all seem valuable according to the email validation provider. Let me know if you still have any issues adding contacts to Smartlead!
Thanks Bo (.. I still see some that were not added. Any ideas? https://app.clay.com/workspaces/271261/tables/t_rFamPBNwwFd8/views/gv_CeUdt9VyEQCb https://app.clay.com/workspaces/271261/tables/t_o9EGQeUsMrue/views/gv_RmdwRCPNgigV Is it possible to get help outside of US hours? Every time I have to wait a whole day for a response which means my campaign has been delayed by a few days now.
How come it doesn't give a detailed error message so we can try solving it
Hi there, Looking at the Cypress contacts - they're not being added because they're already unsubscribed. For support outside US hours - we're currently hiring more people to cover those hours better. We already have two teammates working during non-US hours, but creating a new ticket will help you get faster assistance since we prioritize tickets by wait time. Continuing in the same thread doesn't move you up in the queue. Let me know if you need anything else!
Ok, thanks for that info. What does Unsubscribed mean exactly?
It means that this person has previously opted out of receiving communications from you. They've unsubscribed from your outreach campaigns, so they can't be added to new campaigns.
So I’ve emailed this person before?
It seems to be saying this. Can you confirm you see this in Smartlead as well?
Hey Bo (., yes, that is correct. Drew did unsubscribe from another campaign. What about these ones? https://app.clay.com/workspaces/271261/tables/t_rFamPBNwwFd8/views/gv_CeUdt9VyEQCb
Hi Luka, thank you for reaching out. It seems like SmartLead found the email to be invalid (shown by bouncecount=1). This might be an error on SmartLead's end. Would you mind going to "Settings"> "Bounce List" on Smartlead and see if you find this email? Thank you for your patience as we solve this issue!
Yes please :)
Nope, not there. I searched for a bunch of them and none of them showed up.
Hey there Luka thanks for checking this. Will continue to check in on this issue.
Thanks LuisArturo. When do you think you'll have an update as many rows are in this state?
Apologies Luka, the team is still looking into this issue.
Ok, thanks LuisArturo. I have another question - how come this doesn't populate any people in the next table
Companies table: https://app.clay.com/workspaces/271261/tables/t_RxYkcNoBq3bX/views/gv_qYFnTkhTjseW Contacts table: https://app.clay.com/workspaces/271261/tables/t_rFamPBNwwFd8/views/gv_CeUdt9VyEQCb No entries for Vennevar Labs but yet they have their whole team in the US (ie. https://www.linkedin.com/in/tusharnarayan/)
Hey there Luka, to explain what is going on here, Clay does not receive data directly from LinkedIn, but rather through third party data providers that scrape LinkedIn. Results from the people search typically get impacted by the following instances:
1. Inputting semantic search parameter instead of syntactic search: A limited set of job title keywords are applied to the role being targeted. Our search algorithms are based on syntactic search which means you must put every variation of the keywords you're looking for (ie CEO and Chief Executive Officer). When this happens, some matching profiles may be missed because they were not included in the search query. 2. Mapping the wrong inputs in the people filters. For example, not mapping LinkedIn urls from the company table to run the search. 3. Search limits applied to the people search. This reduces the number of records that can be imported from a search. 4. Private profiles: Our data providers use a multitude of ways to access people and company data. For the most part though, we don't use your cookie/login data. This means that we could miss some information here and there, especially if there are privacy restrictions in place for certain profiles. This would mean that your logged in profile has access to it, but our data providers may not. Sales Nav has access to private profiles which is also why you might find better data quality results here. All this being said, we're continuously working on improving our search algorithm/building the best growth tool possible and are always looking for feedback! If you have specific examples of the differences between your search results, please do share and I'd be more than happy to pass your feedback along to our engineering team.
Are the Job Titles case-sensitive? Because I have VP of Engineering so it should pick this guy up; https://www.linkedin.com/in/tusharnarayan/ But as you can see, their whole team is in the US so it's weird that not one profile was returned: https://www.linkedin.com/company/vannevar-labs/people/ How can I now change the Job Titles that I'm looking for? In Edit Source?
LuisArturo, I just tried adding CEO in the Job Titles and updated table and it ate up a lot of credits without seeing any new rows! Why did that happen? And can I have those credits back please?
Hey there Luka to confirm the job title filter is case sensitive, which is why we recommend using multiple variations of the same job title in order to catch them all. Also how many credits ended up being used here?
I'm not sure. I saw them dropping but I think around 300-400. But why is it doing that? Let's say I add CEO to my contacts table. Shouldn't it only use credits for new contacts that match the CEO query? Why would it use credits for my existing rows? Also, regarding the Job Title Search - I left "Exact Keyword Search" unchecked - so shouldn't it find VP of Engineering, Vp of Engineering, Vice President of Engineering?
To confirm were existing rows using up credits as well? Normally when a new row is created any existing integration columns will only run for the added rows. The default option for "Exact Keyword Search" is when it comes to checking for job titles across different languages. It would not factor in in this case when it comes to VP of Engineering and Vp of Engineering. Additionally added the credits back to your account.
LuisArturo, actually I'm not sure. I clicked the credits icon and saw them dropping but no rows were being added. I see that they were once I refreshed the page so it was probably using them for those. You can remove those additional credits you gave me if you want. Btw, any update on why the leads are not getting loaded into SmartLead campaigns? Am I the only one experiencing this?
Thanks. Are those emails from the community bounce list safe? Also, is there a way to get a list of all the people following a specific company on LI?
Thanks! We've reopened this thread. You can continue to add more detail directly in this thread.
Hi, Most of our big cold email senders prefer not having this option turned on as they say it's not accurate. For following a company on LinkedIn - Typically that'd be done by extracting the people who liked their posts with tools from Phantom Buster and Apify. LinkedIn doesn't expose page's followers so unless having backend access with them it's not possible.
Hey Luka I noticed you reopened this ticket. Is there anything we can do for you?
Feel free to keep this conversation going or create a new ticket.
Hey Bo, how would I copy these four columns from this table https://app.clay.com/workspaces/271261/tables/t_RxYkcNoBq3bX/views/gv_qYFnTkhTjseW into this one https://app.clay.com/workspaces/271261/workbooks/wb_4yV3MjC5V9FB/tables/t_rY7TFCfegpd5/views/gv_q23gNdqnAy7S so I don't have to redo it every time I create a new table?
Hey Luka
You can select all the columns, right click, and save as template. Then go to the enrichment panel by clicking the "add enrichment" button at the top right of the page, select that template and add it.
Let me know if you have more questions!
Thanks, Bo (.! Do you know how I can normalize the job titles here: https://app.clay.com/workspaces/271261/workbooks/wb_4yV3MjC5V9FB/tables/t_rY7TFCfegpd5/views/gv_q23gNdqnAy7S. For example, in row 7, it shouldn't say Mid-Career to Senior
Just "Full-Stack C# Developer"
Hey there Luka can use our AI integration to do so you can ask it to normalize all of the job titles and provide it with examples of what to look for and fix when checking the Job titles. Something that can help with this would be to use the AI meta prompter, which can help take in which ever prompt you use and rewrite it in a way that the AI can better take in.
Hi there, I imported too many companies here: https://app.clay.com/workspaces/271261/workbooks/wb_JgZYgjJiHHhp/tables/t_9cPbnmer3tk7/views/gv_HUM69SfApKmD so I deleted them and went to Edit Source to refine my search. It now says 960 companies but it only gives me 39 rows. Why don't I see the full 960?
Also, how come in row 2, it got the email multiple times and charged me credits for it? https://app.clay.com/workspaces/271261/workbooks/wb_inyWAU8uZ7u2/tables/t_QSUC4fuKA8xp/views/gv_Tv7A8TBFCQKR
Hi Luka
For your first question, when you delete values from a table, they may still be counted in the source data but not displayed in your table view. The 960 companies exist in your source, but only 39 are showing in your table because of Clay's duplicate protection system. If you want to add it back, we'll need to create a new table here.
Regarding your second question about the multiple emails in row 2, this happens because different providers may find the same email addresses. While we can't predict what each provider will return, Clay's system prevents the same email from being validated twice. The emails showing in your table are those that passed validation, while others may not have been validated successfully. Can you do this for me: 1. Show All Rows: Follow the steps shown in the screenshot to display all rows. 2. Check Email Validity: Look for the hidden validation column to see if the found emails are valid or not. https://downloads.intercomcdn.com/i/o/w28k1kwz/1419738404/6e146629e40a22c086cd29231cf1/e83bc69b-b15e-49ae-aa84-1aa339ef2cae?expires=1741817700&signature=732a1ce258983d9899c8a2f9aa4b219a863d10c7d0bea34185e006f624faff37&req=dSQmH859lYVfXfMW1HO4zYnBncZsaKBJ4pVKcSV2WBzyMova1cDpkbPuunT3%0ALJ05%0A
