Trouble with if then statement in text column causing random character errors

I'm having a bit of trouble with an if then statement in a text column. My variables are coming across as random characters and causing errors. Usually works perfectly. Can anybody help here?

It's the break up email column

Alex, any specific rows to keep an eye out for? I spotted a few but it looks like the Break up column is pulling names from a different source instead of the normalized one, which I think should be it, right?
