How can I select source in "write to other table"? Scenario: I have multiple tables from my team members. In each table, there is a column for "write to one specific table". While in this table, we can not select the source like in the original table for each individual.
π Hey there! Our support team has got your message - we'll be back in touch within 24 hours (often sooner!). If you haven't already, please include the URL of your table in this thread so that we can help you as quickly as possible!
Hi Fahad, thanks for reaching out! Just to confirm, are you looking to edit the source of multiple tables from the table where all the data is being written? Or are you hoping to identify which row of data came from which source? If you're simply trying to identify where the data originated, you can use a series of Lookup columns for all the tables feeding into the 'destination table.' By adding a Lookup column for each source, you can run the lookups and see which records are associated with each source. If you're trying to edit one of the multiple sources from the 'destination table,' itβs currently not possible to modify a source from the table where the data is being written. Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any questions! :)
Thanks Owen for sharing all the details. I understand, and yes I'm trying to identify data origination. When I use the Lookup tool, it shows one record found, it is not showing the source name or the output I want it to be. Example - Andy, Jake, Mike - each have different sources, on different tables, consider one jobs table "with recruiter" and one jobs table with "no recruiter", so in total there are 6 sources. Now there is one "destination table", I lookup and it gives record found. What I want is to get the actual source name or at least give an output like user Andy, Mike and so on..
Got it Fahad, so just to clarify, are you looking to identify which table the record came from or which source in the original table the record came from? I want to make sure I give you the best solution here, so would you mind sending the link to the table so we can take a look? This will give us more context on the best solution for your specific use case https://downloads.intercomcdn.com/i/o/1171717996/ac7729f84b426e1d0358af02/image.png?expires=1730229300&signature=6d7fafaa4ecebc8b7ead0249b5815082e7fa93f0b5d5e9d7d43b2d161a4a5c9a&req=dSEgF85%2FmohWX%2FMW1HO4zYTywSv%2BBJ4V2BKsam%2FhVPsUbQ%3D%3D%0A
which source in the original table the record came from - I did a workaround for this, but you can look into it, so I can save up some columns and also remove the workaround. https://app.clay.com/workspaces/236286/workbooks/wb_2Td26Mt2Tb3X/tables/t_kJSn7yc6uDfM/views/gv_bDwkBmpg5g58
Got it Fahad, so all of the jobs from our find jobs source are jobs that have been posted on LinkedIn. Is LinkedIn the field/output you are looking for? Additionally, the job posting LinkedIn url is a field in the Lookup array - I just broke this property out as a column for both of the Lookup columns you've created. Let me know if this is the output you are looking for, or please provide an example of what you have in mind so we can help further. Thanks!
Thank you Tanvi for putting in your efforts. But I don't require Linkedin job url, I want the source name or atleast the user name as an output. If you see in my table, "Lead" column shows that output (my workaround). and it is much better if I can get the source name like here.
Interesting Fahad, could you share more about why you're looking to do this? This currently isn't a field pulled by the find jobs source but I'm seeing if there's a workaround we can apply here
Great work, thank you Tanvi very much. It is amazing!
Glad Tanvi was able to help out here! I'll pass along your thanks. :)
