Can’t seem to generate AI prompts with the Generate button

The Generate button you're referring to is likely the "Generate with prompt" or "Help me" button in the Use AI enrichment.

To use it properly:

The error shows your OpenAI API key is incorrect. You'll need to update it in Clay with the correct key from your OpenAI account.

To fix this:

1. Get your correct API key from OpenAI's platform

2. In Clay, go to the Use AI column setup and click the Account dropdown

3. Add or update your OpenAI account with the correct API key

Make sure you copy the entire key exactly - even one missing character will cause this error.

It should not interfere anyways because I haven’t chosen an AI tool for this. I just want to generate the prompt. Might use another API or just native tokens

You're right - the prompt generation should work regardless of which AI provider you plan to use. By default, Use AI uses our Clay-managed account for prompt generation.

You can generate prompts without connecting your own API key and then choose to use native Clay tokens, your own API, or switch providers later. The error you're seeing suggests it's trying to use your OpenAI key even though you haven't selected it as the account.

Try clicking the Account dropdown and make sure "Clay-managed account" is selected instead of your OpenAI account.
