Using Clay with Instantly for Personalized Email Sequences

·
·

Hi All, question about how to use Clay with Instantaly Do you craft the specific email SL and Body as a Clay column and then export to Instantly? If so, would that mean I'd need a bespoke Clay column for SL1, Body 1, SL2, Body 2 etc. like one SL and one Body for each email in the sequence?

Hi Chris, thanks for reaching out! Just to confirm, in Instantly, do you already have the following variables for all of your leads? * Company name * Healthcare specialty What I suggest is using brackets in Clay to create custom variables within your copywriting, which should then be recognized by Instantly. For example, wherever you want to insert these variables in your copywriting, use {{companyName}} (or however this variable is spelled in Instantly). Then, when previewing emails, we can check if Instantly is correctly picking up {{companyName}} as a variable. Hope this helps! Give it a try and let me know how it goes. :)

Thanks. So I need to create the variables I want to personalize with inside Instantly. Then it's instantally that is actually creating the final email Subject Line and Body

When you say these data points are already coded into Instantly, does that mean you've already associated these data points with each lead on Instantly's side? or what do you mean by this? My personal preference when it comes to this situation is to fully write the copy or email in Clay and push the entire email body and subject line as variables from Clay into Instantly. We can do this either way (i.e. having the final email built in Clay or Instantly). For quality assurance purposes I prefer to build and write the entire email in Clay then push a variable such as {{EmailBody}} and {{EmailSubject}} as custom variables from Clay into Instantly. Let me know your thoughts here and what you'd like to do! :)

Thanks for clarifying. So based on this My personal preference when it comes to this situation is to fully write the copy or email in Clay and push the entire email body and subject line as variables from Clay into Instantly. Sounds like in my Clay Person table, I'd need to create a column for Email 1, Subject Line and Email 1, Body then Email 2, SL, Email 2, Body and so on right? So if I wanted to have my sequence be 5 emails long, I'd need to add 10 distinct columns in Clay, then push those distinct columns into Instantaly

Certainly! While having distinct columns for every part of the sequence is an option, it’s not necessarily required. The decision depends on the level of personalization you plan to include in those five emails. If you only need static data points like a name or company name, it might be simpler to create a template in Instantly and use those variables directly. On the other hand, if you’re using larger sections of AI-generated text based on variables from your Clay table, it would likely be more efficient to house the entire email in Clay and push it as a single {{emailBody}} variable. Apologies for the somewhat zig-zag answer! There are many factors that could influence the “optimal” approach, so I recommend going with the method you’re most comfortable with. Let me know if you have any other questions or how else I can help here. :)
