Automating Outreach Integration with Clay for Efficient Contact Management

Hi Clay folks! First of all, awesome product 🚀 I can’t live without Clay anymore. I’m using Outreach integration, looks like it only supports exporting contacts to Outreach. Is that possible using one operation to export the contact, assign the contact to the sequence name specified by another Clay column, and customize the email based on other Clay columns? Right now, I can bulk export contacts to Outreach, but I have to go to Outreach and manually assign them to different sequences based on some property, and customize the email in that sequence. I hope I can automate all of that with Clay.

Yes, you can automate this process in Clay using our Outreach integration. Here's how it works: 1. You can add contacts to Outreach sequences directly from Clay by using the "Add to Sequence" feature, which requires: • Prospect ID • Sequence ID • Mailbox ID 2. When pushing data to your sequencer, you can: • Map essential contact data fields • Add custom variables for personalization • Include separate fields for email subject lines and body content 3. For advanced personalization, you can set up custom variables in your API call that correspond to different columns in your Clay table. This allows you to customize email content based on the data in your Clay columns. Note that Clay integrates with your email sequencer but doesn't replace it - we work alongside tools like Outreach to enable personalized outreach at scale.

I don't see the "Add to Sequence" feature

The "Add to Sequence" feature is available only on the Explorer plan and above. To use this feature, you'll need to: 1. Be on the Explorer+ pricing plan 2. Have an existing sequence set up in Outreach (this must be done directly in Outreach) 3. Have the following information ready: • Prospect ID • Sequence ID • Mailbox ID If you're not seeing this feature, please check your current pricing plan, as this could be the reason it's not visible to you.

Hey Jiang,
We do have "Create Prospect" and "Add to Sequence Prospect" actions inside Clay but you do need to set up the sequence first inside Outreach.
For customization, you can add values as custom fields inside the contact and refer to those custom fields in your message. Any contacts with these custom fields that are added to Outreach will be having this included in the messages.
If you want to create an entire email, just add the complete email in the custom fields. When using this method, make sure you add a formula to prevent rows from running unless the custom fields are present, so you don't send emails with empty values.

I see, for some reason the add to seq option is not available on my side. Am I looking at the wrong place?

Hey Jiang - Add to Sequence is a separate enrichment. If you click "Add Enrichment" and then search for outreach you should see it as an option, but let me know if you have any more trouble here!
