Concerns Over Clay/Slack Integration Permissions and Verification Plans

·
·

Our IT team did not allow us to use the Clay/Slack integration because they said the permissions it is requesting are way to extreme for its intended use case (access to private channels, access to delete channels). Are there any plans to adjust the requested permissions or allow the user to select which permissions we allow? Additionally, are there any plans to get the Clay app verified on the Slack marketplace?

I understand your IT team's concerns about the permissions requested by our Slack integration. Currently, we don't have specific information about plans to adjust these permissions or allow selective granting. Our Slack integration is designed to retrieve and send messages, notifications, and member lists within Slack channels to facilitate efficient communication and collaboration. Regarding verification on the Slack marketplace, we don't have information about plans for this at the moment. However, we appreciate your feedback and will pass it along to our product team for consideration. To better assist you, could you share more details about which specific permissions are causing concern for your IT team?

You can use webhooks to push data from Slack to Clay without granting extensive app permissions. Here's how: 1. In Clay, create a new webhook source: • Click "+ Create New" on your Clay home page • Select "Import data from Webhook" in the "Other" section • Choose an existing table or create a new one 2. Copy the generated webhook URL from Clay 3. In Slack, set up an outgoing webhook or use a Slack app with webhook functionality: • Configure it to send data to the Clay webhook URL • Customize the data you want to send based on Slack events This method allows real-time data updates from Slack to Clay without requiring extensive permissions. If you need more detailed guidance, let me know, and I can provide further assistance.
