Concerns Over New Subfolder Access and Organization Issues

·
·

previously I was able to access subfolders right away. now I need to click my way through. From one click, to 2-3 clicks multiple times per hour. Could you please please please get the old version of accessing subfolders back? This is a major step back in workflow. Also, cannot organize my folders anymore and the sort option is also not working properly?

We're sorry to hear you're experiencing difficulties with folder access and organization. Let's address your concerns one by one: 1. Subfolder access: Our current system requires navigating through folders step-by-step. While this may require more clicks, it's designed to provide a clear hierarchy and organization. 2. Folder organization: You should still be able to organize your folders. To create a new folder: • Open your workspace • Click "Create New" > "Folder" • Enter a folder name and click "Create" 3. Sort option: Our sorting feature should be functioning properly. Here's how to use it: • Click the "Sort" button in the top menu of your table • Select the column you want to sort by • Choose Ascending or Descending order • Add additional sorts if needed Could you please provide more details about the specific issues you're encountering with folder organization and sorting? This will help us better understand and address your concerns.

yes this makes no sense. Why take away the option to customize the table sorting, forcing us into this and Subfolder access answer makes 0 sense Mr AI Bot.

Hi Dominique, Thank you so much for reaching out — we really appreciate your feedback. Could you share a bit more about what you’re not liking with the new interface? I’d be happy to pass along your thoughts to our team, and your input would be incredibly valuable. Thanks again for taking the time!

I so agree. And to add from my behald: I had a specific order logic to my folders. Now I can’t re-arrange things, because you can’t change folder’s location in the list without moving it into another folder instead of between folders. I don’t see any benefits to this new logic.

Glad to see I'm not the only person who has major beef with this. I want to flag this in as many channels as possible so the humans on the UX/UI team can actually hear the concern. I posted this in the Clay experts group, I've also reached out to George D. directly and he thankfully said he will pass this on to the team. If anyone on the UI/UX team is seeing this : PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE for the love of God bring back the old version. I know I'm going to sound an asshole, why fix something that's not broken? This workflow is a far inferior experience for me due to the following reasons.

    • No more custom arrangement & sorting.

    • Hopefully other users resonate with this, we use GTM Engineering to rapidly iterate & validate market hypothesis. So there will be tables focusing on 1 aspect of the GTM motion, and other tables that are focusing on another aspect.

    • This new system just jumbled up everything for us. Now I need to dig through the folders to find where in the hell my stuff is. I'm spending more damn time finding where my tables are instead of working on the tables.

    • Imagine you're working in a warehouse. Wouldn't it make so much sense to divide sections based on each customers so workers can find it easily? This new system is like someone coming in and saying nah, we're gonna sort everything alphabetically. There you go : have a harder time finding where stuff is for each specific customer.

    • No dropdown menu

    • The previous version was beautiful. I could access all my folders and sub-folders from the main page, and no need to keep doing down the folder rabbit hole like Google Drive.

    • George D. told me that the team's logic was to make it similar to Google Drive, but I don't think the team realized. CLAY IS NOT GOOGLE DRIVE. The users don't use it like Google Drive.

    • We have all kinds of relationships, lookups, and pushes from one table to another. Clay's user experience is best when we can rapidly jump from one table to another, and this UI makes it incredibly difficult for us to do that.

If you're experiencing similar frustrations, can we please make enough noise so the team can hear our feedback and revert this unnecessary update?

Hey folks! Nefaur from the design team here 👋🏾 I appreciate y'all writing in and sharing feedback! Definitely get how it was a jarring experience to log in one day and not have your folders/files be in the same order you left them in 😕 One of the main considerations that went into this decision was performance (ie, improving loading/rendering times) — which is a big priority for us. That said, we understand that there are negative tradeoffs to this approach! So we'll be digging into a bit more to make sure y'all can easily find and navigate to what you need to.

    There are 2 easy fixes:

    1. 1.

      let us arrange folders again.

    2. 2.

show the parent folder when opening a subfolder. Every computer system in the world has this view, because it makes most sence when you have to jump back into other folders
