charging credits for using my own API keys has got to be a joke, right
Of course - and Henley W. to your point, there are a bunch of things that are happening behind the scenes outside of just calling OpenAI. Especially for Claygent - OpenAI powers the reasoning but we use a bunch of different tools to make sure its an excellent scraper. Doesn't change my above statement, but just wanted to bring some detail to that too.
Hey folks - George here, I head up the support team and I wanted to jump in to address this. We take pricing changes extremely seriously, and with that we work extremely hard to conduct experiments and speak with customers prior to making any decisions. This recent credit change was one of those experiments and was never supposed to apply to existing customers. Anyone that was affected should have gotten any lost credits refunded by now. With any pricing change, we always work to be as transparent and proactive as possible. We missed the mark here as we intended this to only impact new customers and we apologize for any inconvenience this might have caused. For now, we've shut down the experiment but please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions at all. Your feedback is always appreciated.
a symptom of raising a lot of money is that you constantly squeeze your users
it is only a money grab
They mentioned that theres a lot of work behind the scenes while making a call to a LLM but never got to the specifics. I think users would understand a lot more if they were transparent and expanded on why it costs that much. Does it cost them to retry those calls if it fails? I wouldnt mind paying a bit extra if i understannd exactly why it added a cost to them Otherwise it seems like a money grab.
Nope 😂
