OpenAI API Rate Limits: Do I Need to Upgrade My Tier?

Hey all, I’m getting this error message. “The rate limits associated with your OpenAI API key are too low to run this action with the selected model”. I currently have a balance of $50 and I’m in tier 1. I’m planning to use ChatGPT and not claygent, do I need to increase to tier 2?

Hi Nicolas, thanks for reaching out. ChatGPT will work with all tiers of OpenAI, whereas Claygent requires Tier 2 or above. That being said, it could still be possible you need to increase your rate limits. You can check your ChatGPT usage or limits at the following links: • Usage • Limits • Usage Tiers Their support team will always grant you the request if you have prepaid the minimum amount required and they’ll be quick to assist if you need to increase your limits or troubleshoot any issues.
