Is it expected that a failed "Find Company Headcount Growth" enrichment still charges a credit? I thought enrichments that failed to find data returned the credit? https://app.clay.com/workspaces/243114/workbooks/wb_ZYr5DUTFnnc5/tables/t_vMxG29m3uJQ8/views/gv_cpywbyzSW6GP
💤 You've caught us outside of our support hours (9am-9pm EST), but don't worry - we'll be back in touch within 24 hours (often sooner!). If you haven't already, please include the URL of your table in the thread below so that we can help you as quickly as possible!
Matt B. it depends on the type of enrichment and whether that data provider charges us for failed data or not
Thanks! We've reopened this thread. You can continue to add more detail directly in this thread.
Okay, I understand. That's kind of crappy in this case, but it's clear. Follow-up question, if I run the enrichment over 10 rows but the inputs are the same for 5 of the rows (so of course the outputs will be the same), why am I charged for all 10 credits? There is no history/caching/check to see if the data has already been requested and enriched? Do I really have to go through the really annoying effort of creating a separate table with duplicates removed and then a lookup table to only have to pay 1 credit per company?
Sorry for that Matt! :) For more information on how credits work, you can visit our FAQ page, where you’ll also find a list of actions that are refundable and those that aren’t. Regarding your second question: Each row is treated as an individual, so there’s no built-in check to see if the inputs are the same across multiple rows. However, here’s a tip to avoid being charged multiple times for the same data. You can follow this tutorial: Loom Video, which shows how to add a numbered column to your rows and prevent enrichment from running on duplicate entries. Let me know if you need further clarification! 😊
Man, I've got to create:
unique ID
multi row lookup
analyze the record position
enrich only the 1st one
create another lookup for 2nd+ rows
That's a crazy flow. It solves my problem but I'd be surprised if this constraint doesn't come up a lot. It would be great to have a feature: "Same inputs as a previous row, push the already found output"
I get your point Matt - Thanks for this! We're always looking to make the product better and this feedback is super helpful for us. We're going to pass this over to our product team so they can better evaluate things and see if/where this might fit into the roadmap as a future improvement.
Dang... I tried a shortcut with a deduped lookup table but just saw that the lookup doesn't supply the full enrichment/object? First, why is that? Severely limits the lookup feature Second, is there any way I can get back the 500 credits I just wasted?
Sorry can you clarify what do you mean about the 500 credits you "wasted"? Yes, the lookup will only show what’s in the table as columns, not the entire data from within the object. If you have specific data points you want to use in the lookup, you’ll need to add them as columns. Here are two helpful videos: • Explaining Lookups: Watch Here • How to Extract Texts and Avoid Cutoff: Watch Here Let me know if you need further clarification! 😊
Okay, thanks, I'll just create columns for the data I want to move over. I thought my data was stuck in this lookup table thus I would have to re-enrich
We haven't heard back from you in a bit, so we're going to go ahead and close things out here - feel free to let us know if you still need something!
