Bug Report: Duplicate Table Names in Lookup Row Feature

·
·

When I want to use the "Lookup row in other table" there is a bug with the naming of the tables. tables which were duplicated all appear under the same name, without any hint of differentiation. Had an instance where there were 4 tables with the same name, had to do some guesswork and extra checks to figure out which one is which

To resolve the issue with duplicated tables in the "Lookup row in other table" feature, try these steps: 1. Rename your tables to make them distinct: • Open the table you want to rename • Click the "..." next to the table name • Select "Rename" and give it a unique name 2. Add descriptions to your tables: • Click the "..." next to the table name • Choose "Edit Table Description" • Add a clear description to differentiate tables 3. Use the table management settings to review and organize your tables If you need more help, click on "Talk to a person" for further assistance.

The tables have already been renamed, and refreshing the page or clay or restarting the computer does not change this

We're aware of the issue you're experiencing with the "Lookup row in other table" feature. Despite renaming tables and refreshing Clay, you're still seeing duplicated table names. This is not the expected behavior, and it seems to be a persistent issue. To help us investigate this further, we'd like to gather more information about your specific case. Could you please provide more details about the tables you're trying to look up? For example, how many tables are showing up with the same name, and can you share the steps you've taken to rename them?

So whenever I duplicate a table it appears with the name of the original table (if I duplicate table number 2, it wills appears with the original name of the original table number 1.) I renamed them both in the table view, and in the clay overview. When selecting them there's no indication of any other data, they look identical. If you added a date or so it would sort of make it easier

We understand the issue you're experiencing with duplicated tables in the "Lookup row in other table" feature. Currently, our system doesn't automatically add identifiers like dates to differentiate duplicated tables. However, we can suggest a workaround to help you distinguish between these tables. When duplicating a table: 1. Immediately rename the duplicated table with a unique identifier, such as a date or version number (e.g., "Original Table Name - v2" or "Original Table Name - 2023-04-01"). 2. Add a description to the table that includes more detailed information about its purpose or contents. To do this, click the "..." next to the table name, select "Edit Table Description", and add your description. 3. When using the "Lookup row in other table" feature, these unique names and descriptions should help you identify the correct table. If you're still experiencing issues after trying these steps, could you provide more details about when exactly you're seeing the duplicate names? For example, is it happening during the table selection process or elsewhere?
